gentlemanwillsloan: This is the poster for King Kong Appears in Edo (1938), believed to be the first Japanese giant monster (kaiju) film of all time. The last remaining film elements were reportedly lost during the bombings on Japan during World War II. King Kong would return to the Japanese film industry - in authorized appearances - for the classic King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) and King Kong Escapes (1967), wherein, you’ll recall, he fought Mechani-Kong.
