Just completed some fiber fill explosions and did a quick photo test. Even with the lights on they look damn fine.
Cubans love miniatures. If you look, you’ll see them dotted throughout the city (a mini Habana Libre Hotel in its own lobby). But the Grandaddy of them all is the “Maqueta de la Habana” on Mercederes, one block west of Obispo.
Not only is the scale impressive (1:500 if I remember correctly) but they even recreate the passage of time with sounds and lighting that change from day to night every several minutes.
It is satisfyingly surreal to be walking in full scale Old Havana one minute, and towering over it as a giant the next.
Once again, another diorama desperately in need of giant kaiju.
